Title: BodyScape
Technique/Material: Lightweight concrete, swimsuit
Size: 100 cm x 45 cm
Year: 2015
ABOUT: BodyScape
The goal of this work is to investigate the interplay between the mass of concrete and the stretchability of the swimsuit’s elastic fabric. Specifically, I am conducting an experiment to determine the maximum capacity of a swimsuit to hold concrete by pouring the material into the suit and observing the point at which the elastic material can no longer stretch to accommodate the mass. The experiment aims to provide insights into the stretchability of the human body and the aesthetic function of garments, especially swimwear. The attached photograph depicts a swimsuit designed for a young girl, serving as both the experimental garment and the visual frame of reference.
